Internships

An assessable part of a course such as in medicine, nursing, social work, teaching, etc. although the terminology is often also coined by employers. The positions may or may not be paid. The majority of internships are unpaid when they are a component of a course. The duration of internships varies from 3 months to 12 months.

This is an example of an internship subject in the Faculty of Economics and Commerce.

325 330 Management Practicum

This is a for credit subject offered to third year B Com students where students work in small teams and are placed within a company to solve a real life business problem throughout a 12 week period. Students attend on campus lectures, however the bulk of the subject involves site visits to the various companies. The subject is offered in both semester one and semester two and has a quota.
