Work Project / Placement

These are unpaid opportunities to undertake a project in the workplace or a work placement. They are either course-related or deemed to assist in the development of professional skills.

This category includes the Student Workplace Project Program, co-ordinated by, and organised through Careers & Employment. Placements that form part of the Student Workplace Project ProgramĀ  must be between 40-80 hours in duration (preferably no longer than 6 months) and host employers must be a registered business (provide an ABN for verification). Placements are covered by University insurance and employers are required to extend the provisions of the OHS Act. No. 107/2004 to students.

For an Example of Work Experience Good Practice, listen to Toni Waugh describe the Student Work Placements Program.
