Graduate employment programs

Graduate employment programs are employment opportunities for final year students, which commence in the following year. They typically include training and development in different areas of the organisation or intensive specialised experience in one area.

Employers recruiting for local graduate employment programs mostly advertise at the beginning of 1st semester and offers of employment are made soon after, however, these programs may be recruited for at any time throughout the year. One or more positions are advertised annually.

To advertise your vacancies to students, please go to the Careers Online employer log on page and click on the "Register as a new employer" link. First time users usually take 5-10 mins to register the company, themselves and the vacancy. If you're already registered, submit your username and password to gain access and lodge the vacancy.

Vacation work programs, cooperative placements and internships

These opportunities enable students to obtain paid, professional course-related work experience over a specified period of time. They are traditionally aimed at penultimate year students (second last year of study), with the peak months for application closing dates being August and September.

An increasing number of employers use this type of employment to assess the work performance of students for their potential as graduate employees.

Faculties encourage students to undertake a placement that extends from one semester to one year, at a suitable time during their course.

Please note: Unpaid internships that form an assessable component of a course are not advertised on Careers Online
