Information sessions
On campus information sessions enable employers to inform targeted groups of students about their organisation, current employment opportunities and details about the application/selection process.
You can make use of our state-of-the-art audio-visual equipment and impressive lecture theatres to achieve audience impact and attract quality applicants.
We book the lecture theatre, escort you to your venue and set up the audio-visual equipment to ensure that all runs smoothly.
Due to demand and timetable constraints it is only possible to hold one information session per semester. A fee applies for the session, which varies depending on whether it is scheduled during the day or evening.
Promotion
For no additional charge, we will inform the students you want to target about your information session in the following ways:
- Listing on Careers Online event scheduler
- Listing in the Careers Resource Centre
- Display of your promotional posters in relevant faculties and departments
- Promotion through faculty websites and newsletters (where available)
- Promotion through Careers & Employment’s weekly e-bulletin
You may also wish to inform students about your information session via a targeted email, for details about this option see Reach targeted students
Catering
You may wish to offer refreshments if you are holding an evening information session (this option isn’t available for lunchtime sessions). Details of how to organize catering will be provided when you make a booking.
If you are holding a lunchtime information session you may wish to do it in conjunction with a Student Society barbeque. Please ask us about this when you make a booking. Be aware, however, that restrictions may apply depending on the scheduling of other information sessions and timetabling constraints (Guidelines and Procedures for Co-ordinating Employer Recruitment Campaigns PDF file | 100KB)
Tips for your presentation
- Schedule your information session 1-4 weeks prior to your application closing date
- Include a recent graduate in your presentation as students like to hear anecdotes from peers
- Have a balance of male and female speakers and remind presenters to take account of the audience’s cultural and gender diversity
- Describe the opportunities being offered and the type of work involved
- Communicate your recruitment timetable, outlining the steps in the application process, closing date, interview schedule, etc.
