Targeted mail and email blasts
Apart from attending careers fairs and employer information sessions, student feedback indicates that they prefer to receive information about employment opportunities via mail and email blasts.
This service can be used to enhance your recruitment planning and marketing strategies by providing you with accurate numbers of students in your preferred disciplines.
Before making a booking, it may be a good idea to check out enrolment numbers:
Email blasts
- Your message must be in plain text (no formatting, colour or attachments) with a maximum of 400 words.
C&E will add the following disclaimer at the end of your email text:
"This correspondence has been addressed and forwarded to you by Careers & Employment, The University of Melbourne. The role of Careers & Employment is to maximise and facilitate your employment outcomes. No personal information about any student has been disclosed to the employer sending this email."
- You can choose to send us your information pre-packed (already in your organisation’s envelopes) or unpacked - different charges apply.
- Material delivered to us must be in boxes weighing no more than 10 kg.
C&E will add the following disclaimer to the material:
“This correspondence has been addressed and forwarded to you by Careers & Employment without disclosure of your personal details. Careers & Employment is not endorsing the information contained within, and you are advised to make your own enquiries to verify the information."
Terms and Conditions for sending mail outs and email blasts
- Employers agree that all information they provide in their email blast or mail out does not breach any law or the rights of any person (including legislation regarding Fair Trading, Equal Opportunity, Racial Discrimination and Human Rights)
- The targeted mail / email blast service is only to be used for distributing information to students about current employment opportunities
- A job vacancy related to the direct mail / email blast must be lodged on Careers Online.
- Email blasts and mailouts include a disclaimer which states that Careers & Employment does not endorse the information which is being sent and advises students to make their own enquiries to verify the information
- Due to email blast restrictions it is only possible for employers to send one email blast to the same cohort of students per recruitment campaign each semester
- Careers & Employment reserves the right to refuse any person or organisation use of this service
How to book
Bookings for targeted mail and email blasts are made via Careers Online. Once you have registered/logged on, hit the ‘Click here to order targeted mail/email” link and complete the order form.

Charges include GST and are set for 2009 only and may be subject to change
- Research /administration fee: $110 * †
- Cost per email i.e. per student: $1.40
* Based on a standard set of search criteria. A higher fee will apply for more complex searches - we will provide a quote before conducting them.
† The $110 research/administration fee will apply to any research conducted by C&E at your request, even if you choose not to proceed with the email blast or mailout.

- Cost per letter labour charges: $2 for pre-packed material, not inclusive of postage or $3.30 if unpacked, not inclusive of postage
- Per letter Australia Post postage charges:
- $0.55 for DL (‘regular’ size)
- $1.10 Larger than DL, up to 125g
- $1.65 Larger than DL, over 125g up to 250g
- $2.75 Larger than DL, over 250g up to 500g
- Additional photocopying: $0.15 per copy
