Work, travel and play in the USA and UK
It’s semester break and you have nothing to do… Well why not take a trip to the USA or UK and get some work experience through camps and programs offered by organisations listed below?
Be a ski instructor in Vail, Colorado or a surfing instructor in Maui, Hawaii. Choose to wait tables at Pier 33 in San Francisco or opt for the big city life of New York City. Pull a beer in Bristol, sell kilts in Edinburgh or bend balloons in Harrods. You can either arrange work before you leave home or remain free to choose your job once you arrive.

- Check the visa restrictions from the relevant embassies.
Participating organisations include:
- International Exchange Programs (IEP) is a large non-profit organisation, runs programs including Summer CampUSA, Work USA, Work and Travel Britain, OptUSA and Work NZ.
- Council Exchanges (CIEE) sends over 65,000 people per year on internship, professional training and work and travel programs to the US.
- Southern Cross Cultural Exchange (SCCE) was founded in order to provide Australian students, parents, and educators with an exchange organisation. It also has a tailored Au Pair program for those curious about the USA.
- The International Counselor Exchange Program (ICEP) makes possible the placement of several hundred students and young people from all regions of the world, ages 18-30, to serve as counsellors in American summer camps.
- Overseas Working Holiday (OWH) are affiliated with Flight Centre and offer programs such as pub work in the UK and nursing positions through the UK through the 1st Contact Medical program. The Work America program is a 2-4 month stint with a guaranteed pre-placed position prior to departure.
- American Institute for Foreign Study AIFS Australia focuses on recruiting 1,000 students for the Camp America and Resort America programs and will soon launch high school programs.
- Camp Counselors USA (CCUSA) conducts Worldwide Work and Travel Programs in the USA, Australia, New Zealand, Russia, Brazil and the UK. They regularly hold local information sessions about their programs.
- Julian Krinsky Summer Camps(JKSC) provide employment opportunities in variety of areas at Summer Camps in suburban Philadelphia and Boston, USA.

- International Volunteer Programs Association (IVPA) is an alliance of nonprofit, non-governmental organizations based in North America, that are involved in international volunteer and internship exchanges.
