Wellbeing Services Counselling Service

Mental Health Training

There are two models of mental health training offered to students and staff -

Sessions offered

A range of sessions have been developed to compliment the 2-day Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) course and also suit the tertiary education environment.

The 3-hour sessions are suitable as stand-alone sessions, but may also be delivered in the tailored format as a group of sessions to meet the needs of an individual group of staff or students.

Participants unable to attend the 2-day format of the MHFA course, can attend the generic 3-hour components of the MHFA course - "Depression", "Anxiety", "Psychosis" and "Drugs, alcohol & mental health". Participants attending all of these 3-hour components, will receive their MHFA certificate.

Generic training dates

Generic dates are scheduled for various times throughout the academic year, attempting to cater for the slightly quieter periods for students and both professional and academic staff.

Tailored sessions

To organise a tailored session or group of sessions, please contact Bryan to discuss your training needs, proposed dates and venue details. Sessions can be delivered at any campus of the University, for any group of staff and/or students. Fees will be negotiated on an individual basis.

The Priority for 2009 will be to deliver services to those faculties and colleges who have purchased a package. There will be limited generic training sessions offered for staff and students throughout 2009.
