Fellow Students
A great part of your university life and experience will revolve around your fellow students both on an academic and at a personal level.
Healthy relationships with fellow students are a vital part of your experience at University and may be reflected in your academic performance.
Sometimes students can encounter difficulties in peer relationships due to a variety of reasons including shyness, social anxiety or personality clashes. It may be difficult to talk about them with family or friends. Problems can sometimes be shared with other students who you know from tutes, shared houses or study groups and getting support in this way is great when it is available. Sometimes getting support from other students can complicate things if, for example, the person you are having problems with is known to them. It often therefore helps to talk to an objective listener who does not personally know the student or students involved.
At the Counselling Service we talk to many students experiencing difficulties with peer relationships and can offer an understanding.
