Mission, Aims, Vision and Values
The Mission of the Counselling Service is:
To provide high quality services and consultancy to all levels of the University on psychological processes, mental health, developmental issues, and the relation of these to the learning experience and learning environment.
Our Aims:
We aim to provide counselling, training and personal development opportunities for students and staff, to assist them to find their full academic and/or working potential. We actively promote the overall mental and physical health and wellbeing of all members of the University community. We seek to help students get the most out of their time here, participate fully in campus life, and intelligently prepare for life outside of university. We aim to assist the University to achieve its strategic objectives through contribution to program planning and development, consultation with academic and professional staff, and participation in the implementation and evaluation of strategies, policies and programs.
Our Vision:
We envisage that we will have a positive and enhancing influence on every student and staff member during the course of their university experience.
We will do this by:
- Providing leadership and professional expertise in the provision of psychological services.
- Contributing to the evolution and development of the university.
- Fostering meaningful and enduring networks with academic areas and other service areas.
- Ensuring that service delivery is influenced by research and quality control indicators, in conjunction with a commitment to ongoing service development.
