Getting Started on Themis

Staff Id number:

Once a contract has been signed it takes approximately two weeks to process and for HR to issue a Staff Identification number. A Staff Id. number is necessary to create any of the University staff accounts. A staff number can be checked by calling the HR front desk on 8344 6078.

Once you have been issued with a staff number, a University of Melbourne Themis Staff Self Service account needs to be created.

To create a Themis account:

  1. Go to http://accounts.unimelb.edu.au/ click on the Staff button.
  2. Fill in the details as necessary.
  3. This leads to a page which enables you to create passwords for/activate three accounts.
  4. Initially ONLY create the password for your Email account.
  5. You can now access you staff email from the webmail page https://webmail.unimelb.edu.au/src/login.php?secure_login=yes
    You can access the email straight away. Username - first initial of first name and full surname as one word.
  6. You will need to wait one day after creating this password/account before continuing.
  7. Log in via http://accounts.unimelb.edu.au/ again.
  8. Create passwords for the other two accounts (Themis accounts). The passwords for these can be the same as each other, but need to be different from the email password.
  9. The Themisprod account is your internal access account (i.e. when you are on campus).
  10. The Themisforte account is your remote access account (i.e. when you are off campus).
  11. Access to Themis is via http://www.themis.unimelb.edu.au/. The grey button is for on campus, and the blue for remote access.
