Equity and AccessUniversity Strategic Plan: To entrench equity and merit as fundamental principles through which the University encourages and assists staff and students to realise their full potential. Disability Related Issues: Whilst the proportion of people with disabilities undertaking university study is lower than their representation in the general community, the participation of students with disabilities in higher education is fundamentally an issue of equity. There are many factors that contribute to lower than expected participation rates for people with disabilities that are beyond the scope of the University to address. The University is committed to encouraging an inclusive learning environment, where possible eliminating barriers to access and success. The preparation of this Disability Action Plan highlights the strategies the University will undertake to achieve this commitment. Ensuring that the access of students with disabilities is equitable over the long term relies on the University entrenching the goals and targets included in the Action Plan into University operations. Goals and Targets9.1 Utilising the Disability Action Plan to entrench the principals of equity and access in University activities.
