Unsatisfactory Progress CommitteesAt the end of each semester most faculties review the progress of undergraduate and postgraduate coursework students. Students who have failed a percentage of their enrolled subjects, and/or failed a core subject, and/or failed a repeat subject may be asked to meet with the Unsatisfactory Progress Committee or Student Progress Committee (name varies between faculties). These meetings provide the opportunity for the student and faculty to discuss the student's performance. Generally the approach of these committees is constructive - essentially faculties are exploring strategies that may assist you in improving your academic performance. Statue 11.5 (PDF : 31 Kb) outlines the purpose and process of Unsatisfactory Progress Committees. The Student Union Advisory Service (SUAS) provide advice and support in preparing for your Progress Committee meeting. Their website has detailed information on submission writing and preparing for your Progress meeting. Individual faculties also provided information on the function of Unsatisfactory Progress Committees. Links provided are for information pertinent to undergraduate students. Postgraduate students are encouraged to visit the faculty website and follow postgraduate links for Progress Committee advice.
