Faculty ServicesFaculties employ a range of staff and offer a variety of programs to enhance the experiences of their undergraduate and postgraduate students. It is recommended that students regularly check their faculty websites for information about the services on offer. Some of the useful contacts and programs within faculties are
Faculty Disability Contact Officers (FDCOs)All faculties have a Disability Contact Officer. Disability Contact Officers are often student advisors who perform an additional role in processing and approving Alternative Exam Arrangement applications. Most FDCOs are available to see students with disabilities to advise on faculty administrative matters such as withdrawing from subjects, applying for a leave of absence etc. Disability Contact Officers often work closely with the DLU but students do not need to have accessed DLU services to meet with their FDCO. FDCOs are a valuable resource for students with disabilities. For a listing of FDCOs click here. Non-Parkville Campus Contact OfficersEach non-Parkville campus has a Disability Contact Officer who is based at the campus. These staff are able to advise students with disabilities on a number of campus issues and will refer students on to the DLU if required. For a listing of Non-Parkville contact officers click here. Transition programs and study groupsStudents engaged with the University and with a peer network tend to perform better at University. Being linked in is essential for both student wellbeing and academic survival. Some students arrive at the University knowing other people from school, employment or social networks, others don't know anyone. Faculties offer transition and orientation programs for new postgraduate and undergraduate students. Some of the larger faculties have on-line 'lounges' for first year students. Check out your faculty webpage and/or make enquiries within your faculty about transition If you have particular needs to enable participation in any host program please contact the DLU or your Faculty Disability Contact Officer. |
