Student ServicesThe University has services available that can provide support for students experiencing a range of issues. Most services are free. A full listing of student services is available at the Virtual Service Centre and all students are advised to familiarise themselves with the many services that can make life and study more manageable and successful. Among the services that are frequently accessed by students with disabilities are: Counselling Service who offer both individual consultation and group programs. International Student Services have a wide range of services and advice to support international students from pre-departure stage to graduation and returning home. Language and Learning Skills Unit offer a range of supports to enhance independent learning strategies and academic writing. They also host the transition program initiative AIRport which is a great interactive website that provides a variety of tasks and tips to improve organisational and academic skills Housing Service provides a wide range of advice on housing and tenancy related matters. They also manage the Student Housing Access Program (SHAP) which provides transitional housing for students from equity groups. Student Financial Aid provides information on all matters related to the financial life of a student. They also have a financial assistance directory outlining bursaries, government benefits and other financial information of specific interest to students with disabilities. Careers and Employment offer a range of services that support students in their transition to employment. Careers and Employment are also the primary contact for the Willing and Able Employment Mentoring (WAM) program for students with disabilities. Student Ambassador Leadership Program (SALP) is a student leadership program that develops and fosters students skills. The program consists of training and engagement with the community and seeks to improve the lives of others in the community through volunteerism. Children's Services operate the childcare centres of the University. The have a number of centres within close proximity to the Parkville campus. |
