Our Role
Welcome to Student Financial Aid
Whenever genuine financial hardship exists, the University endeavours to assist its students.
Student Financial Aid provides advice and information on student loans and bursaries, government student assistance, budgeting, and on a range of other matters related to student finances. Basic Tax help, and information on the cost of living, is also available.
Staff can help out with any problems with Austudy, Abstudy or Youth Allowance, and can contact senior Centrelink staff on a student's behalf if necessary.
The Financial Aid service is open to all University of Melbourne students for general advice and information.
Student Financial Aid staff are sensitive to the frustration and embarrassment caused by financial difficulties. All interviews are strictly confidential. So if a student is having trouble coping with a lack of money, they can make an appointment for an interview with an adviser.
