Trust Fund Grants Eligible to any currently enrolled students at the University of Melbourne.
Housing Grants Aim to assist those who need to live away from home in order to attend University. Such students are typically from rural or interstate areas as well as those from outlying areas of Melbourne.
Postgraduate Grants Grants (also known as Bursaries) to assist with course and living costs.
Student Loans Short-term and long-term loans for students in financial need. Designed to help meet emergency situations and unexpected costs.

Student Housing Access Program (SHAP) Transitional share-house accommodation in university owned properties.

 

Melbourne Scholarships www.services.unimelb.edu.au/scholarships
Postgraduate Studentships Provides funds to support a student enrolled in a research higher degree or coursework degree at the University of Melbourne.
Fay Marles Scholarships These scholarships provide support to Indigenous Australian students.
Frederick Blake Shepherd Scholarship Scholarship available to candidates undertaking research higher degree studies on a full- or part-time basis, with preference given to disadvantaged candidates.
Other sources of advice about financial support As the number of applications received for a scholarship program usually exceeds the number of scholarships available, we encourage you to search widely and submit applications for the schemes for which you meet the eligibility criteria.

Government

Rent Assistance Accommodation and Renting Issues. Rent Assistance is only available to recipients of some (but not all) Centrelink benefits.
Health Care Card

A Health Care Card entitles you to reduced cost medicines as well as a limited number of other concessions.

Please note that Centrelink benefits are generally NOT available to full-time Masters or PhD students. For more information regarding eligibility, contact Centrelink or Student Financial Aid before you enrol.

 

Victorian Government
Bond Loans Scheme
The Victorian government can provide low-income earners a loan for the bond when starting a tenancy. Applications can be made to the Department of Human Services.
