Finding Work
Part-time work is an obvious way of increasing your income.
Employment income is the cornerstone of anyone's budget. Looking for a job is an essential first step in meeting the costs of student living. Even if you are fortunate enough to be receiving a government allowance it will not be enough to live on. You will need to supplement the allowance with earnings. Whether this is regular part time work or seasonal work undertaken during university breaks is a personal decision with both options used successfully by many students. Many factors need to be taken into account such as your study workload, your learning style, and of course the availability of work.
Comprehensive information about looking for work can be found on the Careers and Employment web site.
It is important to bear in mind that, if you are a full-time student, it is recommended that you do no more than 8-10 hours employment each week.
