Condition Reports & Bond

A Condition Report is a document which formally details the condition and repair of the property at the time you move in.

It is important that you carefully and thoroughly inspect your new home when you move in and add any extra comments you have to the Condition Report. You must return your signed and dated Condition Report, with any additional comments, to the agent or landlord within three business days of moving in to the property.

If a landlord requests bond from you they must:

  • provide two signed copies of a condition report;
  • lodge your bond money with the Residential Tenancies Bond Authority (RTBA).

The Tenants Union of Victoria (TUV) produces a range of useful online fact sheets, including one on the topic of Bonds.

COMING SOON: An Inspection Checklist is currently being created to assist you with completing your condition report.
