External ServicesUniversity of Melbourne students are encouraged to make an appointment with one of our Student Housing Advisers for advice on housing and tenancy matters. Alternatively, you may find the external services listed below of assistance. Tenants Union of Victoria (TUV)Tel: +61 3 9416 2577 The TUV is a community-based organisation that provides advice, assistance and advocacy to tenants. Their website is a useful resource with fact sheets on a variety of tenancy topics. Pages are also dedicated to student housing issues. Please note the TUV will not deal with disputes between tenants in share/co-tenancy agreements. Co-tenancy disputes are referred to the Dispute Settlement Centre. The TUV telephone advice line operates Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 9:00am to 4:00pm and Wednesday from 1:00pm to 8:00pm. Consumer Affairs VictoriaVictorian Consumer & Business Centre, 113 Exhibition Street, Melbourne Consumer Affairs Victoria (CAV) offer landlords and tenants information regarding their rights and duties under the Residential Tenancies Act 1997 (RTA). Dispute Settlement Centre4/456 Lonsdale Street, Melbourne Provides a forum where parties in share/co-tenancy dispute can access a mediator to assist in resolving problems.
