Residential Halls & CollegesIntercollegiate OfficeTel / Fax: +61 3 9347 9320 There are twelve Colleges affiliated with or owned by the University of Melbourne. They are located either on campus or within a ten-minute walk. The Colleges accommodate between 50 and 326 students. Most Colleges offer a single room, furnished with bed, wardrobe desk and bookshelves. All rooms are heated and most include telephones and internet access. The Colleges generally offer shared bathroom and laundry facilities, including washing machines, dryers and irons. Junior and senior common rooms, computer labs, seminar rooms, library collections, music practice rooms and photographic darkrooms are also communal facilities offered to students. Included in your College fees are up to three meals a day, utilities plus academic and personal support through extra-curricular activities and tutorials. Many Colleges offer scholarships. Colleges typically require payment for the academic year of 30 to 33 weeks. This means students can return home over the vacation periods. Study Abroad and Exchange students can be offered residency on a semesterly basis. How to ApplyAssess which College suits you by visiting the Residential Colleges website. Visiting the Colleges can also be useful. The method of application for Residential Colleges varies: Study Abroad and Exchange students must apply for Residential Colleges through the Arrival Services program. All other students must apply directly to the Colleges. Applications are available online or hardcopy applications are available from the Intercollegiate Office or Student Housing Services. After you have ranked your preferred colleges on the application, send it directly to the college of your first choice. Closing dates for the different Colleges vary. Whilst early applications are recommended, ensure you have researched other housing options in the event your College application is unsuccessful. Read about the Intercollegiate Pool for more information about the selection process. |
