Temporary AccommodationThere are a few temporary accommodation options to consider if you are moving to Melbourne. Arrival ServicesAs part of the Arrival Services program, International Student Services offer a temporary accommodation booking service for new Study Abroad, Exchange, International, Interstate or Rural students. Hotel rates start from AUD$45 per night for a single budget room. To request this service, complete an online Arrival Services application. Applications must be received no later than 72 hours prior to your arrival in Melbourne. Relatives or FriendsYou may have relatives or friends that you can stay with temporarily. This is a good idea providing they don't live too far from the University and you are on good terms with them. It is not a good idea if you have to spend a lot of money and time on transport or if your relationship is put under stress. Ensure that you both have a clear understanding of the terms of your stay. Keeping your hosts informed of your progress in finding housing will help reduce the idea of you overstaying your welcome. Hotels and Backpacker AccommodationMany hotels and backpackers are located near the University and offer accommodation to suit all budgets. Consider booking cheaper hotel standby rates online through companies such as:
