AusAID Orientation Program
As AusAID students begin their Introductory Academic Program (IAP) prior to the beginning of the semester, International Student Services organises a separate Orientation Program to introduce AusAID students to the University. This Orientation occurs before Introductory Academic Program (IAP).
The AusAID Orientation Program covers:
- Finding accommodation
- Health & well-being
- Budgeting for single students and families
- Bringing your family to Australia
- Other AusAID related information
All Orientation sessions occur in the morning, leaving time in the afternoon to look for permanent accommodation.
Introductory Academic Program (IAP)
All new AusAID students must undertake an Introductory Academic Program (IAP) prior to the beginning of each semester. The IAP familiarises new AusAID students with the demands of the Australian academic environment. Throughout the program, there is a focus on academic skills needed to make a smooth transition to study in Australia.
The IAP covers the following areas:
- Orientation and adjustment
- Argumentation and critical thinking
- Introduction to thesis writing and working with supervisors
- Basic research skills, seminar presentation and academic writing
- Computer literacy
