Airport Reception
Airport Reception is available to commencing interstate and international students, including Study Abroad and Exchange students, arriving at Melbourne Airport (Tullamarine).
This service is free from the airport to the CBD, Parkville and surrounding suburbs and areas. Students travelling to further regions will need to pay an additional fee. A fee will also be charged for each additional passenger. If you are travelling with more than two people, it may be cheaper to catch a taxi from the airport (approx AUD$50).
TOGOTO Pty Ltd is a shuttle-bus service used for Airport Reception. If you need to advise of a flight delay or change outside working hours, you must telephone TOGOTO (the Airport Reception shuttle service) on +61 3 9386 9182.
If you request Airport Reception, but do not use it on arrival, you may be charged a fee.
Luggage Restrictions
TOGOTO have restrictions on the amount of luggage transported. Restrictions are guided by standard airline luggage limits and excess baggage will not be taken. TOGOTO are unable to wait for you if you have baggage arriving by freight. If you intend to bring large luggage items, such as surfboards, bicycles or large musical instruments, you are advised to seek alternative transport.
Temporary Accommodation
Some students prefer to wait until they arrive in Melbourne before choosing long-term housing. Other students may have organised housing that will not be available for some weeks after they arrive. In either case, the University can arrange Temporary Accommodation for new incoming interstate and international students, including Study Abroad and Exchange students. Students are responsible for all accommodation costs.
Temporary Accommodation should be requested prior to your arrival in Melbourne. Up to three nights accommodation can be booked in a budget hotel that is located close to the University. If you wish to extend your stay, you can do so directly with the hotel once you arrive in Melbourne (availability permitting). Hotel rates start from AUD $45 per night.
Long-term Housing
When choosing long-term housing, it is important to consider a range of factors, including your budget, location, transportation costs and the type of housing arrangement you would like to live in. Refer to the Housing Guide in the University Offer package or visit the Student Housing Services website for more information on tenancy advice, suburbs in Melbourne, housing options and costs.
Study Abroad and Exchange students may apply for housing at the Residential Colleges for the duration of their stay (one or two semesters) online via OASIIS.
