Employment for Spouses
Spouses with a Dependent Student Visa may apply for a work visa and work while accompanying a full-time student. Spouses will need permission to work and must follow the conditions as set out on their visa, as restrictions may apply.
Employment opportunities for spouses may be limited. International students should budget accordingly before leaving home. There is no guarantee that international students' spouses will be able to find work in Australia, and it is important for students not to depend on the possibility of their spouses finding work and being able to support study and family expenses.
