Earthdance Melbourne 2009
Earthdance is a global movement which unites socially and environmentally conscious people in more than 50 countries around the world in a celebration of peace and community. Join in the festival with big name DJs and artists.
AFL Final Series
5- 27 September
The best teams of the season fight it out! Grand Final tickets are scarce but be sure to join in the celebration. BBQs parties are popular as is watching the game on the big screen at a local pub. The Grand Final Parade heads down Swanston St on 25 September.

23 September – 11 October
Brings the most innovative, cutting-edge art by independent artists to show around Melbourne city venues. Explore the coolest of Melbourne’s art scene.
Victorian Mental Health Week
4 - 10 October
Victorian Mental Health Week is an annual event that takes place during the first full week of October and has been running since 1982.
To commemorate this, the Counselling Service has organised some events.
Melbourne International Arts Festival
9 - 24 October
This annual cultural extravaganza is considered one of the best in Australia. Celebrate Melbourne in the springtime with music, dance, theatre, art and numerous outdoor events by Australian and International artists. This is not to be missed.
Spring Racing Carnival
This world class event is not only about the horses. Fashion and social events abound as people dress up and head to the racecourses. Derby Day is popular and takes place on 31 October. Catch the train in from Flinders Street Station; it is quite a spectacle to see the crowd in weird and wonderful hats.

Remembrance Day
Remembrance Day marks the anniversary of the end of the hostilities for World War I and the signing of the armistice which occurred on 11 November 1918 - the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month. A minute’s silence is observed and people traditionally wear a poppy – the flower of remembrance.
National Sports Museum & MCG Tour
Considered one of the greatest sporting arenas in the world, the MCG is a must see for all sporting fans. Combine a tour of the MCG and the museum and see some of the finest sports-related artefacts and interactive technology in the world.
Melbourne Cup Carnival
3 November
If you don’t have exams on this day, head down to Federation Square to catch the action on the big screen and join in the festivities.
Movember – Growing Moustaches in November
Movember is an annual charity event. At the start of the month, guys register with a clean shaven face. They have the remainder of the month to grow and and groom their Mo, raising money to benefit men’s health – specifically prostate cancer and male depression.
