Melbourne Welcome
Melbourne Welcome is a popular optional programme designed especially for new incoming Study Abroad and Exchange Students. This is an exciting and unique residential orientation programme, organised by Australian students before Enrolment and Orientation begins.
Benefits
- Receive four nights accommodation and three meals per day in one of the University’s residential colleges
- Receive an invaluable chance to establish friendships with other new incoming Study Abroad and Exchange as well as Australian students before the semester starts
- Explore the City of Melbourne's sights, history and entertainment with Australian students as your guides!
Activities
In the past students have participated in a range of activities* including:
- A day at the beach, including a surf lesson at one of Victoria’s awesome beaches;
- Joined in the fun at St Kilda, the city’s premier bayside area;
- Toured the Yarra Valley region, home to some of Victoria’s best vineyards;
- Seen koalas, kangaroos and wombats at the world-class Healesville Sanctuary;
- Attended an Australian Rules football match – a truly Aussie experience!
* Activities vary from semester to semester. A programme of events will be sent to participants who have confirmed their place.

Cost
AUD$530 including 4 nights accommodation, 3 meals per day, activities and 2 major excursions. (Cost does not cover expenditure on personal items)
Applications
Please apply online via OASIIS by the following dates:
- Semester 1: 14 January
- Semester 2: 16 June
The availability of places is limited. Places are allocated on a first-in, first-served basis. Your place will be confirmed via email after we receive your payment. Your application and payment must be received at the International Centre by the application close dates.
Payment options
Credit card (Visa or Mastercard) is the preferred method of payment. An international bank cheque made payable to "The University of Melbourne" is also acceptable. The payment for Melbourne Welcome must be made separately from your other payments (e.g. tuition fees, health cover or accommodation).

Cancellation policy
If a cancellation is received within 7 days before the Program starts, the cost of the first night will be incurred. No refunds will be issued for late arrivals.
