Melbourne Welcome
The Melbourne Welcome is unique to the University of Melbourne and is designed for new incoming Study Abroad and Exchange Students. It is an optional residential program and allows you to form important friendships with both local and international students before the semester starts.
As a participant, you get to explore Melbourne's sights with Australian students as your guides. In the past, activities have included Aboriginal Heritage Walks, surfing, jazz at dusk at the Melbourne Zoo, going to the footy (a truly Melbournian experience), cricket at the MCG, and city and campus tours. Activities vary from semester to semester. We will send you a program of events when your place is confirmed.
The Melbourne Welcome:
- offers accommodation in a Residential College and some meals
- includes activities and excursions
- introduces you to Australian students, their University experience and Australian culture
- shows you the sights, entertainment and history that the city of Melbourne has to offer
The Melbourne Welcome has traditionally been a very popular program and places usually fill up quickly. Watch the Melbourne Welcome video or read the text version.
