Temporary Accommodation
Study Abroad and Exchange students can request temporary accommodation in a budget hotel located close to the University prior to arrival in Melbourne. Please note:
- We can only book up to three nights. If you wish to extend your stay, you can do so directly with the hotel once you arrive in Melbourne (availability permitting).
- Hotel rates start from AUD $45 per night. Students are responsible for all temporary accommodation costs upon check-in.
- You must apply for temporary accommodation at least 72 hours prior to departure from your home country.
Applications can be lodged online on OASIIS. For most students, accommodation is required for just one or two nights prior to the Melbourne Welcome or before their long term housing becomes available.
Students who arrive in Melbourne without pre-arranged long term housing may require temporary accommodation for a longer period. The Student Housing Service Temporary Accommodation guide provides an extensive list of hotels and motels located near the University, ranging from backpacker to five-star accommodation.
Please keep in mind that it may take some time to secure your long term housing as there is a great demand for affordable housing in Melbourne, especially before each semester.
