Bringing your family
Student visa
Most students on a student visa can bring their family members to Australia as their dependants. Family members who are eligible to be included on your visa, include your spouse (including de facto spouse) and unmarried dependent children under 18. The web site of the Department of Immigration and Citzenship (DIAC) provides detailed information on Bringing Family.
When you wish to to apply for your dependent family members to join you after you have commenced your studies in Australia, you will need to enclose a letter regarding your enrolment at the University with your Form 919 Nomination of Student Dependants [PDF 69KB]. You can obtain this letter by completing a Request for Letter and return it to International Student Services (ISS).

There are special conditions for AusAID students wishing to bring dependent family members to Australia. Please refer to your Information Guide for AusAID students available from our Publications Page.
