Why did you get involved in the Starlight Children's Foundation?

As part of the Student Ambassador Leadership Program (SALP), our Action Learning Group (ALG) wanted to work on a project that involved a genuine good cause. All of us agreed that being sick is no fun. For children, hospital usually means medication minus fun, friends and activities. With this in mind our ALG wanted to create a "Fun Day" for these children with the theme 'Early Christmas' . We organised a day filled with dancing, face painting, clowns and puppet shows.

What was your role in the group?

My role in the group involved inspiring possible sponsors and to ensure that deadlines were met. I was also charged with supporting team members where required and keeping the morale of the group high.

How have you benefited from the experience?

Working on this project, I learned to 'Dream Big'. That with focus and determination you can make a dream a reality. Seeing all thirteen members of the group united under a very simple objective - "To bring a smile to the children at The Royal Children's Hospital" and actually achieving what we set out to do was an amazing feeling.
