Doing the DELA
When can I do the DELA?
Your faculty will advise whether you should sit DELA, so please check with your course advisor if DELA is appropriate for you and which session you should attend.
This assessment is free.
DELA is held during orientation week. Simply turn up at one of the sessions recommended by your faculty. You will need to bring your student card with you for identification. We need to know your student number.

How do I get my results?
Course advisers will tell you when to return to your Faculty Office for results. They will recommend which language and communication credit subjects, free workshops or short courses you should take.
What do my results mean?
Your performance is assessed on:
- listening
- reading
- writing
- Fluency ( organisation)
- Content ( Ideas and argument
- Form (use of language: sentence structures and grammar)
Your scores are worked out on 6-point scale, where 6 is the highest.

Your DELA results will help identify how you can improve your language skills.
It is important that you discuss the recommendations with your Faculty course adviser.
