The Eleanor And Joseph Wertheim Scholarship
The Eleanor and Joseph Wertheim Scholarship was established by the Dr Eleanor Wertheim Scholarship Trust. It aims to assist unmarried female students over the age of twenty-five, enrolled full-time at the University of Melbourne, who are in difficult circumstances.

Eligibility
Applicants must satisfy all of the following criteria:
- be an unmarried female
- be at least 25 years of age at the application closing date
- be an undergraduate, graduate coursework or research student, currently enrolled full-time at the University of Melbourne (at least 37.5 points per semester), with at least twelve months of full time study remaining in your current needed to complete their course
- be able to provide documentary evidence that they are in receipt of a means-tested income support payment from Centrelink
- be able to demonstrate difficult circumstances. Difficult circumstances may include for example, disability, being a carer, having dependents. Supporting documentation of these circumstances must be provided. This can be a letter from a relevant person such as a doctor, counsellor, social worker.
- be an Australian citizen or hold an Australian permanent residency or permanent humanitarian visa
Selection
Selection is based on the level of disadvantage and academic merit.
The Eleanor and Joseph Wertheim scholarship is awarded on the recommendation of the Manager of Postgraduate Scholarships and the Manager of Undergraduate & Graduate Coursework Scholarships, following the advice of a selection panel comprising members of the Postgraduate Scholarships Committee and the Undergraduate & Graduate Coursework Scholarships Sub-committee.

Submit an application form to the Undergraduate and Graduate Coursework Scholarships Team.
Timeline
Applications for currently enrolled students close 27 June 2008.
Outcome
Successful applicants will be notified by mail in mid-July.
