Number
Melbourne National Scholarships will be offered to scholarship applicants who have an ENTER or equivalent of 99.9 or above. At least 2 will be reserved for indigenous students.

Eligibility
To be considered for a Melbourne National Scholarship applicants must:
- achieve an ENTER or equivalent of 99.9 or above (or be an indigenous student with an ENTER of 90.0 or above); and
- complete an Australian Year 12 or the IB in 2008; and
- apply for a place in a course offered at the University of Melbourne in 2009 through VTAC and satisfy the prerequisite studies for your nominated course; and
- not have undertaken any previous study at tertiary level excluding TAFE and extension studies undertaken as part of a Year 12 program; and
- be an Australian citizen or permanent resident, or a New Zealand citizen, or hold a permanent humanitarian visa
- apply for a Melbourne National Scholarship.
Selection
- Selection is based on academic merit as demonstrated by ENTER or equivalent.
- Selection is based on academic merit as demonstrated by ENTER or equivalent and other information about course preferences provided by VTAC at the time of selection. The selection committee will not have access to change of course preference information.
Application Process
Submit an application online to the Melbourne Scholarships Office from 22 September (a link will be posted here).
Timeline
Online applications close 31 October.
Outcome
- Successful VCE applicants will be contacted by phone in December on the day that results are released and invited to attend the University to accept their offer.
- Successful interstate Year 12 and IB applicants will be contacted by phone in early January 2009 and then mailed an offer letter and information pack.
- Unsuccessful applicants will not be contacted.
Deferring your scholarship
- If you want to defer your scholarship, you must first confirm that deferrals are permitted in your course.
- You will only be permitted to defer your scholarship if you are permitted to defer your course place. Go to www.futurestudents.unimelb.edu.au/courses/deferpolicy for up-to-date information.
- If you are approved by your faculty to defer your course place, you must first accept the scholarship offer before you submit a request to defer the start date of your scholarship for one year.
