Madeline MitchellGirton Grammar School, Victoria "I knew quite a bit about the University of Melbourne as both my parents and grandparents studied here. I live at Janet Clarke Hall - a fun, friendly and supportive place to live and only a few minutes' walk from all my classes. I am studying Arts/ Science and I find that the two courses complement each other. I am revelling in the spirit of intellectual inquiry and in being part of a group of students who are all passionate about the same things as me." |

Henry BoylanSt Ignatius College, South Australia "Along with the demands of university, I have had to adjust to living independent of my parents. Living in collage has made my move from South Australia much easier and much less lonely than it otherwise might have been. The support of the scholarships office has been fantastic, especially during my first few weeks. I really enjoy my course and am finally becoming familiar with the university, especially its geography. I can only describe my time so far as pleasantly hectic; though I have loved every minute, and if it stops I will be very disappointed!" |

Sandeep ArunothayarajHaileybury College, Victoria "My course promises one of the most interesting and enjoyable experiences of my life. The fun far surpasses the workload and both students and staff are looking to make it the best six years ever. My course opens up amazing possibilities because there are so many specialities and career options available. The transition from school to uni was a breeze due to the useful help provided by senior students and staff. I am part of the Medical Students Society, which has a calendar packed with big nights out and friendly events. To take the best advantage of everything on offer, I am considering college accommodation because I live an hour and a half away which is a real obstacle to participating in many activities." |

Siddharth PaleriMelbourne High School, Victoria "Receiving a scholarship from the University was a huge surprise. Life at uni is fun, fast-paced and relaxed all at the same time. I'm having fun doing a variety of commerce and science subjects; they offer a refreshing contrast to each other. My scholarship has taught me to value education and to make the most of the opportunities that I've been given." |

Raymond HaikalSt Paul’s College Altona, Victoria "When I was offered an Access Scholarship, I was so excited because it meant that I could concentrate fully on my academic future and enjoy studying without worrying about expenses. Since my first day I have been busy making the most out of my uni life: joining clubs; making heaps of new friends and attending my various lectures. I'm inspired by my lecturers and their knowledge." |

Dakshinee KodituwakkuPenleigh & Essendon Grammar School, Victoria "One of the best things about first year has been the novelty of it all - so many new faces and locations. During O-Week, I met new people, not just from my Faculty, but from all around the Parkville campus. I’m doing a Commerce/Law degree, and although the workload hit me hard fairly soon, some of my experiences have been surprising. For example, the history of the Australian legal system is much more interesting than it sounds, and there's a lot more to accounting than filling in columns of numbers." |

Kate SmithTrinity Anglican College, Queensland "I applied for a National Scholarship, but when an offer came, I was unable to accept it, having already decided to spend 2004 on exchange in France. I asked to be reconsidered for 2005 and gladly accepted the offer the second time round. Thanks to my scholarship, I'm able to live at Queen's College, which has helped to make the transition from Cairns to Melbourne much less daunting. I'm enrolled in Arts/Science, studying Physics, Spanish and Maths. It can't get much better than that!" |
