The University of Melbourne has been offered funding for two Study Melbourne Scholarships by the Victorian Government to award in 2008.
No application is required. All eligible students will be automatically considered by their faculty. Priority will be given to students enrolling in a course associated with an area in which Victoria has a skills shortage. Faculties will use the guidelines detailed below to nominate candidates.

Eligibility:
Candidates must:
- be an international student. Citizens of Australia and New Zealand, Australian permanent residents and Vietnamese students who are in receipt of a MOET scholarship are not eligible;
- commence or continue enrolment in their degree in semester 1, 2008;
- hold a student visa for the term of the scholarship; and
- agree to participate in the promotion of Melbourne and Victoria as a study destination for international students during their course and on completion of their degree.
Selection:
Faculties will nominate candidates based on their academic achievement.
Priority will be given to candidates who are already enrolled or who will enrol in a course which provides training in an area that the Victorian Government has identified in the Skilled Migration program.
Selection timeline:
February 2008
- Each faculty will submit a ranked nomination list of students to the Melbourne Scholarships Office (MSO).
- From this list, a Selection Working Group will nominate likely candidates.
- The MSO will mail out offer letters to the nominated students outlining the benefits and terms and conditions of the scholarship.
- The nominees will be asked to return the acceptance form together with a short (up to 500 words) resume listing their educational and work experiences to date and other interests.
- The MSO will then submit to the Victorian Government a selection report describing the details of the selected candidates together with their CV and certification that the eligibility criteria has been met.
