Campus snapshots

In 2003 the University of Melbourne celebrated its 150th anniversary making it the country's second oldest university after the University of Sydney. Originally founded on 10 hectares of land, the leafy Parkville Campus has now doubled in size, with many University buildings situated off campus. Parkville is a short stroll from the City and a range of attractions.

The University of Melbourne has over 42,000 students (8,000 of which are international) and 6,500 staff, and is one of the biggest and most diverse universities in Australia.

Campus life is vibrant with plays, art exhibitions, music, sport and all manner of other events scheduled both day and night. The Student Union and the Postgraduate Association work to provide students with a diverse range of services and opportunities to engage with other students and the campus.

The University also has a range of outstanding student services including housing, financial aid, careers, health, counselling and language & learning. These services are available to all students and are an excellent source of support.
