Additional Assistance

The University recognises that your performance can be adversely affected by a range of issues including illness, disability, family or personal circumstances. A range of services and supports (www.services.unimelb.edu.au) are available to ensure that your performance is an accurate reflection of your capabilities.

Special Consideration

If your work has been affected to a substantial degree by illness or other cause you should apply for Special Consideration.

Applying for special consideration for the Extension Program is a different process from any special arrangements you may have made through your school for your VCE or IB studies. You must apply directly to the University if you wish your circumstances to be taken into consideration during the assessment of your Extension Program subject/s.

Applications for Special Consideration are made online via the Student Information System: sis.unimelb.edu.au/cgi-bin/special-consideration

Students with a Disability or Long Term Medical Condition

If you require an adjustment because of a disability or a long term medical condition, you should contact the University’s Disability Liaison Unit.

Although you are subject to the regulations of the University, the Disability Liaison Unit will endeavor to replicate adjustments provided in your school environment which may include:

  • In class support such as notetakers and interpreters
  • Course materials in an accessible format
  • Extensions for assignments
  • Alternative examination arrangements
