German - 2008German 1A and German 1BIntroductionExtension Program German was first offered by the Department of German and Swedish Studies in 1997. The intensive language lessons and varied contextual studies proved very popular among the students who entered the Program. These students completed the regular course syllabus for first year students and also gained a welcome exposure to university teaching and assessment styles. Career OpportunitiesGraduates of the Bachelor of Arts who have majored in German have found employment in teaching, media, the public service, the diplomatic service and international trade. VCE PrerequisitesCompletion of German 3/4 in Year 11 or equivalent. Applicants who have not completed German 3/4 will be required to attend an interview and/or sit a test to determine whether their proficiency is equivalent to Unit 3/4 level. Students must obtain an A/A+ average in German, and a B+ average across non prerequisite subjects. Teaching LocationAll classes are taught at the University of Melbourne.
