Application, Selection & Enrolment Process for New Students

Student Application

Applications for new students for 2007 close on Friday 10 November 2006.

After applications are received, an acknowledgment letter is sent to applicants with a reminder to send their Year 11 reports and any Unit 3/4 results by Friday 15 December 2006.

Student Selection

Admissions staff and academic staff at the University of Melbourne consider Extension Program applications and select students on the basis of academic merit and according to the University of Melbourne Extension Program selection criteria. Extension Program staff advise students as to the outcome of their application in mid January.

Student Enrolment

After receiving a letter of offer, it is the student's responsibility to accept their place by enrolling. An on-campus Enrolment Day is held in mid to late January for students residing in metropolitan Melbourne. Other students can enrol by post.

Information Regarding Your Class

Class Numbers

In December School Centre Teachers will be advised how many students have applied to study at their School Centre.

Class List and Student Contact Details

In late January you will be sent a list of the successful applicants for your class, complete with their contact details.

If some students don't present or a student who is not on the list wishes to transfer from another School Centre, please contact Extension Program staff as soon as possible.

A student may be able to change School Centres if there are places available. If a student wishes to transfer to another teaching location, they need to contact Extension Program staff on 03 8344 5538.

Student Withdrawals

Please advise us if a student stops attending class so we can notify them of the withdrawal process. Students who decide to withdraw must submit the online withdrawal form as soon as possible.

Students who withdraw are not disadvantaged if they apply to study at the University of Melbourne or any other institution as any fail results they have received are deleted from their University academic record prior to tertiary selection.
