Wedding Photographs
The picturesque grounds of the University of Melbourne are an ideal location
to have your wedding photographs taken. Anyone is able to arrange for a permit.
Permits
The University of Melbourne has introduced a fee for wedding photography in
the grounds and will limit the number of permits issued each weekend. The fee
is $200 + 10% GST for a 1-hour session. No permits will be issued on the day.
Please note that the setting up of tables and serving of refreshments during
wedding photography sessions is not permitted.
Permits will be issued for a maximum of five 1-hour photography sessions on
Saturdays and Sundays between 12 noon and 5pm only. No permits will be issued for
weekdays or on days when University conferring ceremonies are scheduled, see below
for dates.
Fee Waivers
For students (past or present) and staff of the University, the fee is waived
if proof is provided with the application form. (i.e. photocopy of student/staff
card or results).
Permit Dates
Permits will not be issued on weekdays or on certain Saturdays and Sundays
throughout the year.
Gate 10 (Grattan Street) will be the Main entry point for wedding photography
parties; parties may also enter via gate 4 (Swanston Street). Security guards will
be stationed at these gates to inspect permits, admitting only those with proper
authorisation.
Wedding Chapels and Churches
While there is no chapel on campus, some of the adjacent residential colleges have
chapels that are available for wedding ceremonies.
